John should tell this story because it would be a lot more entertaining for you. So it started out with a delayed flight from Houston to Atlanta due to weather. We ended up staying on the tarmac for over 3 hours. And of course they didn't have enough fuel so we had to go back in and get more fuel. We missed the connector in Atlanta to St. Thomas. We luckily made the second and last flight out to St. Thomas. We got in around 4pm, showed up to our hotel/resort and they oversold rooms so we were sent to a less than impressive motel. The one plus that day was we got free food and beer for the rest of the weekend.
The next day was a bit of a waste with switching hotels and getting rental cars (another disaster...dad got into with the sales lady).
Saturday we decided to get off St. Thomas and head to St. John. We took a car ferry and within 5 min. of pulling onto the island we got a flat...from a pot hole. And then we put the spare on and the spare has a flat. So we spent 2 hours trying to get the flat fixed. Finally back on the road to the beach and storms roll in. Dad and John got about 2 hours of snorkeling in and Connor and I played in to ocean. We were heading out because storms were coming in and the last ferry left soon and John got his finger slammed in the door...ripped his entire finger nail off! We got back to the hotel and i am pretty sure John drank as much as he did in his college days (3 double gin and tonics, a couple beers and a glass of wine and whatever else my sister brought him).
Becca and Connor buried John.
The next day everyone started drinking (except me) around 9am. We left the island around 3 after we tried to leave early. Even dad, the most laid back guy, tried to find a different flight.
All we could say is the next family vacation better go a lot smoother.
