Best Week in Singapore/Railay!

My Mom, Dad and Sister all came to visit us for Spring Break! It was a very hectic, tiring week but the best week I have had here. They landed at 5 am Singapore time so we went to the house, made coffee and everyone took showers. We went for a walk at MacRichie Reservoir but no monkeys again. We went to John and I's favorite Thai restaurant for lunch (Mai Thai), grabbed some refreshing yogurt ice cream and everyone went back to the house for a nap. We just hung around the house, went to the park in the afternoon, cooked dinner and watched TV. I was shocked at how well everyone adjusted to the time. Grandpa and Mimi brought Connor a Cozy Coupe. He loves it...he eats in it, tries to sleep in it, wakes up and points out the window for someone to bring it in to him. :)

We all went to the grocery store and while some of us were shopping Aunt Becky and Connor rode in the car.

The next day we were on our way to Railay, Thailand! Connor fell asleep in Mimi's arms in the taxi.

Railay is a beach surrounded by cliffs so we flew into Krabi, took a taxi van to a pier and then took a long boat to Railay. The long boats don't go all the way to shore so we actually got on the back of a tractor and rode it to shore. I bet Connor is one of the few 18 month olds that rode in a taxi, plane, boat, tractor and car all in one day!!

Tuesday morning we took a 5 min long boat ride to the beautiful beach of Pharnang. It truly was paradise!

True to their style, Becca and Dad ate corn on a stick out of a long boat!!

Railay West Beach! Our resort (Railay Bay Resort) was located on this beach.
John finally got to Railay and we all went swimming. We saw monkeys too!!

Railay Bay Resort food was ok, but we all love good food so Tuesday and Wednesday we ate at the oh so nice Rayavadee Resort. The food was amazing and so was the view!!

The monkeys were making their way to the cliffs at dinner. We actually saw them climb 200 or 300 ft mostly on the vines you see in the picture. It was amazing.

Sunset!!

Wednesday was the most amazing day I think I have ever had on vacation! Dad decided we needed our own boat so we chartered a private boat to the Phi Phi Islands.

First stop...Bamboo Island for some snorkeling!

Connor fell asleep at some point. I can't believe how well he did. He was the perfect little boy considering we were on the boat from 9am to 4pm. What a water baby!

2nd stop - Viking Cave. There were people sleeping in there. They harvest the bird nests (eggs and all) as a chinese delicacy. Eww... But the water was amazing clear.

3rd stop - Phi Ley Bay. The most beautiful place I have ever been. We entered this bay that was really deep on one side and shallow on the other surrounded by cliffs.

We rode through (4) Lohsamah Bay quickly and made it to (5) Maya Bay at Phi Phi Ley. Maya Beach is where "The Beach" was filmed. We did some snorkeling and were suppose to go to Maya Beach but it was so crowded we asked our captain to pick us up on this beach. It was about 40 feet long and private. We stayed here for a while. Swimming, looking for sea glass, and climbing the rocks. The only negative - dad got stung by a jelly fish.

6th stop - Ao Ton Sai at Phi Phi Don for lunch. There were tons of street vendors and Connor got to run around.

7th stop - We snorkeled off of Monkey Beach and Connor got in the water again. He hated the life vest!

8th stop - Lo Dalam Bay. John and Dad got in the water and saw literally billions of little fish but the girls and Connor stayed in the boat...it had been a long day.

Connor playing with Grandpa's feet. :)

The last day we walked down to Railay West Beach and looked for cool shells while enjoying the last couple hours in paradise.

We got back to Singapore Thursday night. Friday we just hung out at the house most of the day. After Connor got up from his nap we went to China town. The family left at 2am friday night. I can't believe the week has come and gone. I can't wait until June to see them again.
